There is one thing you should absolutely know about me...I hate driving!!! Pretty much all of my pet peeves have to do with driving. I hate it when people down turn on their lights whey they are supposed to, I hate it when people drive right on your tail, I hate it when people stop and only leave 6 inches between your car and their car. And the list goes on and on. Yesterday I was on my way home from work, right in the middle of rush hour traffic. I came to a stop at a major stop light. All of a sudden this truck pulled up in the lane next to me and the first thing I noticed about it was that it was covered in bumper stickers. I knew I had time before the light changed so I decided to read what this person decided to display on their truck. The one that jumped out at me the most was one that said "God protect me from your followers". My first reaction was that it disturbed me. My next thought was "maybe they didn't put all of these stickers on their truck". Then I saw another sticker that said "If your not naked stay away from the truck". My third thought was "I really wish I could get out of this car go over there, knock in their window and say 'I'll pray for you'". Even though I knew this is the last thing they would want. The light finally turned green and the rest of the way home I was deep in thought. I pondered to myself why would something like that disturb me. I came to the realization that it's because so many people have the wrong idea about religion. Then I realized that so many religious people don't really know what the bible says. I will admit that i'm one of those people. That is why I have made the commitment to read the bible in one year and finally know what the bible says.
It amazes me that some simple bumper sticker could remind me why I made the commitment to get to know my religion more. One little sticker made me question what kind of person I really am and helped encourage me to keep going on it.
